Robotic / Laparoscopic Reflux surgery

Surgery operation with modern equipment. Selective focus on doctor s hands with special robotic equipment.

Dr. Bhoot’s clinic is at the forefront of treating acid reflux disease with the latest in robotic and laparoscopic surgery techniques. These minimally invasive methods provide an effective solution for chronic reflux, offering patients a high standard of care with fewer complications and a quicker recovery.

Our team, proficient in advanced surgical procedures, tailors each treatment to the patient’s specific condition, focusing on long-term relief and improved quality of life.

Treatment for Acid Reflux

Acid reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), occurs when food or stomach acid travels back up from the stomach into the esophagus. This can cause burning in the throat or chest, excessive burping, trouble swallowing, or regurgitation.

When lifestyle changes and medications don’t control symptoms, surgery may be needed. Minimally invasive anti-reflux surgery aims to reinforce the dysfunctional lower esophageal sphincter (LES). This type of surgery may result in less pain, less blood loss, and a shorter recovery.

The most common and effective anti-reflux procedure is the Nissen Fundoplication. This involves wrapping the top of the stomach around the lower portion of the esophagus to recreate and reinforce the dysfunctional LES.

This is like a tiny sewing machine attached to an endoscope (flexible tube). It enables the physician to create pleats in the soft tissue of the esophagus and stomach (LES) that prevent acid from flowing out of the stomach and into the esophagus. EndoCinch does not require an incision and is performed on an outpatient basis.

Recovering from Surgery

Generally, patients are discharged the day after surgery and can resume normal activities within a week. Following surgery, a liquid diet is started and advanced to a soft diet as tolerated. Approximately two to four weeks after surgery, patients will need to continue eating soft foods. After surgery, a follow-up visit with the surgeon is usually scheduled two weeks later.
